We are a family business

Nicolas Tsilivis Katsorchis founded Galileia in the downtown district of Sao Paulo in 1967. It began as a family operated shop selling mostly women’s clothing. It wasn’t until 1991, when his son, Tsilivis Nicolas Katsorchis, recognized an opportunity to focus on designing and producing bikinis. He noticed demand for Brazilian swimwear was growing globally. That decision led to registering the Mar Egeu Swimwear brand which is recognized as one of Brazil’s leading export swimwear brands. Today, the team consists of dedicated designers, seamstresses, cutters, and a charismatic shop manager by the name of Sanda Lima.

We source our fabrics from the finest fabric mills in South America. Two of the most respected fabric mills are Rosset, known for its Lycra Swim™ and Santa Constancia, known for their eco CO2™ fabrics. Their technically advanced micro-fibers are eco-friendly, decompose quicker than most synthetic fabrics and offer 50+ UV protection. All fabrics are independently tested and Certified by Oeko-Tex®. Their huge selection of patterns and colors help them stand out in a crowded market especially because they’re noticeably softer and fit comfortably on all bodies.
