Working Conditions

Some people want to know more about our working conditions.  It’s a valid concern, especially when we hear about companies exploiting employees and luring underaged children to work in “slave like” conditions. Sadly, toxic work environments are more common than we think and exist everywhere, in rich and in poor countries.

But not with us!

We’re a family owned business that has been around for over 30 years. Our company is legally registered as “Galileia Industria e Comercio De Roupas Ltda.” We adhere to strict Brazilian tax and labor laws which include maternity leave, sick leave and 30 days of vacation.  We provide ethical working conditions and certainly don’t employ child labor.
Unlike many family operated businesses, many of our employees have been around for more than two decades. The accumulated working experience of our team exceeds 100 years. Yes, that long.

For instance, Marinalva, (our #1 seamstress pictured above) has been with us for over 21 years. We’re lucky to have her because her passion for designing bikinis is not only rare, but keeps on shining year after year.  It’s not an exaggeration to say that we’re way ahead of many Asian suppliers and even America companies where employee retention and company loyalty is low.  The longevity of our employees speaks volumes of who we are as a company and how we treat our employees.

We also love animals, especially cats.  One can often be seen lounging around the shop.  She’s not on the payroll.
